Kids ‘n’ Dads Day coming to Cranebrook

Kids n Dads Day coming to CranebrookFATHERHOOD was one of life’s highest honours, Cranebrook dad Wayne Cornish said. The 39-year-old father-of-four is calling on dads to join the Spyns Inc Kids ‘n’ Dads Day at Cranebrook Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday, April 17.

His said his own father was a role model for him but becoming a dad made it more obvious. “When I was a kid I wanted my dad to be perfect but then I remembered he was also someone else’s son,” Mr Cornish said. “I don’t think there’s enough support for fathers.”

His own children Zac, 11, Ruben, 3, Gabrielle, 2, and six-month-old Vivienne have a strong impact on his life each day. He said fatherhood was one of the greatest experiences a man could have. “Waking up and seeing the kids’ smiles, it gets rid of all your anger,” he said. “Fatherhood makes the world.” Kids ‘n’ Dads Day organiser Toni Trent said the event was planned well ahead of Father’s Day to avoid clashing with family commitments and activities.

The day’s events will feature entertainment, including putt putt golf, Bunnings DIY craft, a jumping castle, paper plane making, rock painting and stalls. “I think lots of information about parenting speaks to women more than men,” Ms Trent said. “But they have a significant, different parenting style to mothers. “Dads who are trusting, respectful and give good guidance provide a long-lasting and positive influence for their children.”
