International Mail Day

Today is the world mail da, marking the foundation of  the Universal Postal Union, gathering 191 countries and the signature of the Bern treaty, in 1874, with the aim to integrate postal services worldwide and facilitate communications among member states without interference in the political affairs of the member-states.  
 
In Angola, the ministry of post and telecommunications is developing a directive plan of postal services detailing the strategy for the sector for 2004/2012 aimed at granting a broad postal service countrywide at acceptable quality and prices, the rehabilitation of the postal service network and the contribution of the postal service in human development.
 
The Angola mail service intends to be an horourable partner before its costumers and is eager to be seen as another agent of the country's economic development.
 
In Angola there are 55 post offices, 12 of them in Luanda, and 42 new post offices are being rehabilitated throughot the country.
 
The opening of a pre-paid service is also being discussed  as well as other services to boost its use by companies and individuals.
 
The Angola post service has the Express Mail Service with 200 countries for delivery of mail service from Angola to the capitals of the EMS international members.
