World Music DayTo mark the World Music Day, Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Monday night arranged a live music concert featuring renowned singer Rahim Shah along with Chotay Ustad- Moon and Ayesha providing some moments of joy and delight to the music lovers in the twin cities.

It was a real treat to watch the celebrated artist Rahim Shah, who mesmerized a crowded audience, as his voice remained resonant singing Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto classics. The live music concert titled “Future and Traditions” was also a part of PNCA’s programme ‘Mehfil-e-Mausiqi’ for the promotion of musical heritage of the country and providing high quality entertainment to fun lovers.

The concert started with a performance by Chotay Ustad - Moon and Fareeha Kareem from Faisalabad. Both the young signers who also have excelled in India sang classical, semi classical, folk music and popular songs.

Raheem Shah on the occasion received standing ovation while the jam-packed auditorium looked dancing field. Started off with Pushto song ‘Mama Mama Ray’ followed by Punjabi song ‘Channa Way Channa, Channa Way Channa’, and ‘Sanu Milyan Tu’, Pushto classic ‘Bibi Shireeni’, and other Sindhi, Balochi, and Kashmiri songs, Rahim Shah termed himself a stanch patriotic.

“I truly love this country that conferred all this respect, fame and honour upon me and thus love singing in all the diverse languages spoken on this land,” Shah said excitedly.

The crowd swayed with mixed feelings of excitement and sadness when Shah started off his Urdu hit number ‘Maa Mujhko Jhulao Na Jhoola Ray’. All regional songs sung by young Shah showing his versatility have become real crowd pullers. The people of twin cities found it a real opportunity to listen him in rapture.

He was awarded with loud applause by an appreciative audience. “I have come to PNCA after a long gap as none of the singers sans Rahim Shah inspires me. as per expectations he really stood out, because he has tricks to get the crowd rolling. He is truly a versatile artist who sings in all the regional languages of the country giving us a message of love for all,” commented a young music lover Hamza.

The budding singers of Chotay Ustad also impressed the crowd. They are the talented kids who brought laurels to the country during their childhood by participating in international competitions. Chotay Ustad is not only a singing talent hunt, but it also conveys a message of peace for citizens of India and Pakistan.
