Model Collectorate of Customs Islamabad celebrated International Customs Day on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Customs said.
The day is celebrated under the aegis of World Customs Organisation (WCO), which has 177 members worldwide. WCO came into being in 1952 and is the only inter-governmental organisation exclusively focused on Customs matters. Each year all member countries of WCO celebrate International Customs Day on January 26, with a special theme. The theme of this year’s International Customs Day was: ‘Knowledge a catalyst for Customs Excellence’.
A ceremony was held on Customs Day Port Islamabad to mark the day which was attended by large number of Officers and staff of Customs, high ranking officials form other Government agencies, Diplomats, representatives of business community and members of electronic and print media. DG, (intelligence investigation), FBR Riaz Ahmad Khan was the Chief Guest on this occasion. In his keynote address, Riaz Ahmad Khan, appreciated the positive role of Pakistan Customs for economic development through trade facilitation.
