National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) on Monday launched a campaign to observe World AIDS Day falling tomorrow (Wednesday). The campaign will cover diverse range of audience including youth in and out of school/universities and general public. An advocacy session on HIV & AIDS with health and education reporters from both print and electronic media was held on Monday.
National AIDS Control Programme’s National Programme Manager Dr Sajid Ahmed chaired the session, attended by media persons, representatives from UN agencies, NGOs, members of civil society and partners from private sector. Ahmed gave a presentation on the current situation of HIV & AIDS in Pakistan and highlighted the efforts being made to prevent and control its spread throughout the country, specifically amongst the high risk populations including injecting drug users (IDUs) and sex workers.
