Black Friday Shoppers Expected to Spend the Same or Less as Last Year

Posted in : Black Friday

(added last year!)

The Black Friday sales  are to take place in a mere seven weeks on November 26th and even though economists have proclaimed the recession over, this concept has not trickled down to the consumer's thinking when it comes to planned spending for the holiday 2010 season.

The highly anticipated Black Friday shopping extravaganza will prove to be a very important day to savvy spenders. In two separate surveys, consumers have overwhelmingly admitted they will be doling out roughly the same amount of money as last year. Accenture is reporting that 83 percent consumers surveyed expect to spend similarly on holiday gifts as in 2009. The NPD Group reports that 61 percent of its pollsters plan to spend the same as in 2009 and a whopping 30 percent intend to spend less.

That doesn't mean people will be shopping less for their purchases, but actually more while they look for the best Black Friday sales, allowing them to stretch their money as far as possible.

The Accenture survey, however, shows that 53 percent of its surveyed audience said they would not be physically shopping the Black Friday sales, but rather looking online for their bargains.

It's a little early for the specifics of the sales. Early reports say there will be discounts on Netbooks and televisions, not on iPads or iPhones though. We'll have to wait and see what fabulous discounts await us fashion folk. Check back regularly to find out the best bets for holiday sales. In the meantime, here are some super sales that are taking place right now.
